Hello there, prospective reader,
I’m Xavier Macfarlane and my goal is simple: write something you want to read, unlike anything you’ve ever read before, and let you get at it as soon as you can.
Here’s The Glaciermen, an ongoing novel I’m sharing for free while I write it:
Begin the chilling adventure of a boy’s survival after a plane crash on the ice sheet of Southern Greenland, where man is not the apex predator, and an ancient evil holds the secret to survival. A science team searches a long-frozen airline crash for clues to unlock the mysteries hidden in DNA, but discovers something much more sinister underneath the ice. "The Thing” meets “Apocalypto.”

Handmade Writing that You Actually Want to Read
I don’t write for myself. I write for you—and your time is precious. My criteria is simple: I only publish something I’d actually want to read, because that’s the best proxy I can come up with for something you’ll actually want to read, and therefore something worth your time.
In a world of unoriginal AI content, this is a place for handmade, genuine-human certified, AI-free writing. (Disclaimer: I do dabble with it for my image thumbnails.)
Why the Name? — ‘The Not-Yet Novelist’
For you: It’s a bummer to have to wait until a writer finishes a project before you get to read it. When will my next book be done? “Not yet”, I say… but that’s why I post as I write: so you can read what happens next ASAP.
For me: Is my first novel finished? No yet. Am I published? Not yet. Am I a real novelist? Not yet. Writers write, as they say, so by definition to be a writer one must be writing, in the present, which means having something that is ‘not yet’ finished, or else they’re just someone who used to write.

On the back burner at the moment is a dystopian post-AI future science fiction tale:
Becker, a talented young thief, knows there is something sinister brewing inside the Guild, the secretive rulers of the New Humana Safe Zone. They have maintained an iron-fisted stability since the Singularities destroyed what many called a perfect civilization. Will he find out what they’re up to before they find him?
At my current pace, I expect to have finished The Glaciermen and begin work on this sometime in the first half of 2025.
